Vaada pleas for a safer pedestrian crossing (pelican crossings) zone

Vaada always aims to make Hyderabad’s roads a much safe and well developed. Considering pedestrians safety while crossing at junctions, Vaada proposed a new form of crossing zone; the pelican crossing. The pelican crossings are basically one of the most developed forms of pedestrian crossing zones, usually a form of pedestrian crossing zone in the most developed countries of the world. In the year 2012, the officials of GHMC, APSRTC, HTP, ASCI and HMDA held a meeting on the aspect of development of Intelligent Transport System (ITS) in Hyderabad. Vaada foundation was also invited for the meeting. Considering it the appropriate time, Vaada founder, P. Suresh Raju placed forward a request for considering a pelican crossing for pedestrians. As per Vaada’s request, there should a pelican crossing on major roads of Hyderabad, which feature huge pedestrian movement. Vaada’s request was considered instantly by the commissioner, GHMC as he promised to organize a research on pelican crossing practicality on major roads along with the HTRIMS at the earliest.
